Not too shabby

Yeah, you've seen this card 100 times today. Courtesy of Mario. Not too bad Topps, looks pretty good all in all. Can't wait to buy it!

Calling Cards

Hey guys, Drew back here, just curious if any of you have any Al Hammell cards. I go to his camps and I want to know if there is a card out there of him. He got up to Triple AAA with the Mets, and played spring training one year, he may have a card in a minor league set. If you have one please contact me, yanks1996wsc@gmail.com. Thanks!

Is there actually a Madden Curse?

Hey guys, Drew back here, got dodgeball tonight so better get this out of the way.

I, DREW, BELIEVE IN THE MADDEN CURSE

In 2000, Dorsey Levens was struck by the Madden Curse, by not being played by the Packers all that much that year.

In 2001, Eddie George was struck by the Madden Curse, injuries occurred and he never returned to his self.

In 2002, Daunte Culpepper was struck by the Madden Curse, and a knee injury happened, which pretty much has killed his career.

In 2003, Marshall Faulk was struck by the Madden Curse, didn't have as great of a year, and the Rams missed the playoffs.

In 2004, Michael Vick was struck by the Madden Curse, got hurt 5 days after the release and only played 5 games that year.

In 2005, Ray Lewis was struck by the Madden Curse, got hurt, and didn't have 1 interception that year, a letdown to his team.

In 2006, Donovan McNabb was struck by the Madden Curse, got hurt in the 1st game, and eventually needed surgery.

In 2007, Shaun Alexander was struck by the Madden Curse, got hurt and missed 6 games that year.

In 2008, Vince Young was struck by the Madden Curse, only god knows what happened to him!

In 2009, Brett Favre was struck by the Madden Curse, after a late season injury killed the Jets playoff chances (no comment)

In 2010, Troy Polamalu was struck by the Madden Curse, got hurt in the 1st game!

See what I mean? Comments appreciated. These guys must have blown out their arms playing their own video game. Sad :(

New Card Acquisitions

Hey guys, Drew back here with more stuff, many new acquisitions recently, and I 1st will start off by saying thanks to my mom, who got me 2 packs of Upper Deck 09 Football, I pulled tons of stars in those bricks and pulled a Glen Coffee rookie card. Nice! So, these 3 acquisitions are provided by Ryan's Memorabilia, GSNHOF, and my Jets game cards! Here yall go:

eBay Bad Seller: Don't buy from eightieschick505!!!

Hey guys, Drew back here. Very disappointed right now, after seeing these on eBay:

I checked the seller, eightieschick505's eBay page out, and this is what I found:

- 21 of those autographs, as far as I know they are fake!
- This patch auto of Joe Flacco:

- A 2008 Allen & Ginter Hornsby SP Mini ($10.00)
- 52 Card lot of 2007 Topps Turn back the clock Frank Gore
- 49 Card Lot of 2007 Topps Turn back the clock Steven Jackson

This man/lady is obviously looking for a profit. The patch has to be fake, if she is selling 21 different fake autographed cards. Please let me know, he/she is new to the eBay community but should be gone soon. I wanted to let you know just in case. See Ya!

The Jets Game

http://footballnationblogs.com/files/2009/03/jets_logo.jpg

Hey guys, Drew back here, just recapturing the day that was yesterday, the day of a great game. So, my dad and I went down to a McDonalds to meet up with his friend and 7 year old son Matthew, who kept informing us it was his second game. We got lost on the way to McDonalds, my dad wasn't in a good mood, and it was getting ugly at that point. But, eventually, we got there, I ate my McGriddle, and we were off.

So, we got to the stadium, very gray, rainy, and a new stadium right next store. Many things were going on, and Matthew would say every 5 seconds, "let's play football", but we wanted to wait until the gate for the parking area was closed, and it never closed, yet we still played. It was fun, but after I ate 3 cookies, I was a little full, but that didn't matter.

Then, we got into the stadium. We found our seats, 8 rows up on the 10 yard line, very nice, good environment, Jet's sideline side. The Jets just came out, and I took my poncho off at that point! Took out my camera, and got some pictures of the Jets (you'll see em soon). Both teams wore vintage jerseys, the Jets were the Titans for the day and the Titans were the Oilers, and the refrees wore orange instead of black.

There he was. I was destined to have him on my team. Even though he is from California, so I've never seen him before. He has a last name many people have heard before (no, not Ihedigbo), and a very common first name. He is Mark Sanchez, and he is awesome!

So, the pregame celebration started, and here it was:
Side note: Dustin Keller and Thomas Jones are awesome!

Then, it was finally game time. The Jets got the ball after a Leon Washington kickoff return not too far, like the 22 or something. Mark Sanchez completed a dumpload of passes on that drive, and looked really sharp. Then, they got in the red zone, and Sanchez ran it in! Video:

The Jets got the extra point, and it was a quick 7-0. But on the kickoff, the Jets recovered a fumble and they were in the red zone again! On a play action play that even had me fooled, when Thomas Jones jumped over the pile on the 3 or 4 yard line I thought he had the ball, but secretly, Sanchez still had it, and threw to Ben Hartsock (yeah, who is he?), the backup tight end, and he scored, and the Jets took the lead!

But it then went downhill from there. Sanchez threw a pick, and lost 2 fumbles, 1 of which we got back. Eventually, in the 3rd quarter, the score was 17-14 Tennessee, and I got worried. I started yelling at them, and especially the offensive coordinator Brian Schottenheimer. Then came a big drive, and Sanchez threw a Touchdown to Cotchery! At that point the score was 21-17 Jets, with the 4th quarter left to go.

It was pretty quiet in the 4th for the Jets, but a David Harris interception after another Sanchez pick was huge, and we eventually tacked 3 more points on a Jay Feely field goal, and we never looked back. The Jets eventually won the game 24-17!

Oh, what a joy it is to be 3-0. We didn't sneak through either, we faced some tough teams, and Rex Ryan has really came through for us. Beating Houston, New England, and Tennessee is a very tough task, and we beat all 3. We are #1 in the AFC East, so that is also awesome!

Overall, my dad & I had a great time at the game. I got the 2009 Jets Yearbook, so now I have Yearbooks: 2006, 2007, 2008, & 2009! I also got 2 50 card Jets lots and the Score team set (is Topps making them this year for Football?). So, I got my 5th Sanchez rookie and more, but I'll show those tomorrow in a post with 3 recent card acquisitions. Anyway, it was a great game overall, and goodbye Giants Stadium, it's been fun!

Go check out this awesome contest

but, don't check it out until October 20th, and that's all 60,000 of you :)

2009 Donruss Threads Football Box Break Review Part 2

2009 Donruss Threads Football Hobby Box - Click Image to Close

Hey guys, Drew back here, completely forgot about the second part of this review. Here is the grading of Mike and I's box of 2009 Donruss Threads Football:

Design: The base have a very plain look. Under the name, from that part on is pretty ugly. Not too great Panini, but some good inserts were included. Not a big fan of the Triple Threat inserts, but many parallels look good. The rookie selection has its ups and downs but by far the nicest design of a card in this set are the Gridiron Kings. These cards look phenomenal! I pulled a Knowshon Moreno out of 25 Gridiron King, and it's really nice (picture below) Design Grade: C+

Price: Many cards, should gt you close or the entire base set, for about $75 a pop. The prices have dropped like 5 bucks since we bought our box. A chance at 4 hits is pretty good. The hits are decent but that's for the next section. Not a great chance of getting your money back, unless you pull a Stafford or Sanchez auto. Price Grade: B

Hits: Well, I want to say they are awesome, but there is the one horrible part. I'll get to that. In our box, we pulled a Donald Brown RC Letterman autograph, an Archie Manning jersey card, a stinky autograph, and a Mark Sanchez/Matthew Stafford Dual RC Jersey /500. I'd hate to say it but the Manning is the best hit! If there was an autograph on the Sanchez/Stafford it would be nice. But, from the stupid NFL Premiere makes it kinda stinky! It sells well, but does it matter? Would these football companies quit doing this? It seriously ruins products! Hits Grade: B-

Overall: Well, not too bad. I'm happy, he's happy, we had fun opening the box, what more could you ask? Overall we got some nice hits, and it's a nice product, I'm being pretty tough but the base are cheap looking and I'm not too happy about owning those. Anyway, not too bad, not the best box I've opened, but not the worst either! Overall Grade: B+

There you have it!

Opinions on New Sets...

Hey guys, Drew back here. It's now time for the new product reviews. Here they are:

2009 Topps Ticket To Stardom Baseball Hobby Box - Click Image to Close

2009 Topps Ticket To Stardom Baseball: Well, not as nice as expected, but it has its ups and downs. The autographed relics look fantastic as Mario said, and so do the base. Many people are hating on the product but I only only have 2 problems: 1) the World Baseball Classic cards of non current MLB players, like some random guys that will never play in the bigs. Maybe a Pedroia, Jeter, Tejada, Cano whatever jersey from it would be OK but random guys from Team Puerto Rico won't cut it. 2) The price. When it goes down I may consider buying a box, but $80 for 3 cheapish hits- not gonna happen. But the great things, the auto relics, the base, the tickets, the parallels, and more! Non-in my collection grade: B+

2009 Bowman Chrome Baseball Hobby Box - Click Image to Close

2009 Bowman Chrome Baseball: Well, it's definitely not my type. I like to know the players in my packs, although I opened a pack a while back of 2004 Bowman and pulled a Brian McCann, Hanley Ramirez, Dan Haren rookies, and more! So, it's a fun one for those prospecters, and although I'm not a prospect guy I think the product looks better in Chrome. Plus, the on card autographs are pretty nice! Non-In my collection grade: B

2009 Upper Deck Ballpark Collection Baseball Hobby 6 Box Case - Click Image to Close

2009 Upper Deck Ballpark Collection Baseball: Again, not too shabby. Better than last year, but after watching a few boxes on Youtube I did notice the collation is horrible again. The quad relics, 6 ways, 8 swatches don't really go together. The design is nice, the Upper Deck Spokesmen cards are nice, and the player timelines are cool too. Overall, a ripoff for the price, but if it was lower I think it could be a fan favorite: Non-in My collection grade: B

2009 Upper Deck Goodwin Champions Baseball Hobby Box - Click Image to Close

2009 Upper Deck Goodwin Champions Baseball: See my review here Non-In my collection grade: C+

2009 Bowman Sterling Football Hobby Box - Click Image to Close

2009 Bowman Sterling Football: Some guys will love this set, some will hate it. From what I've seen so far, it is a complete waste of $219.99 dollars. Topps/Bowman needs to remember if they run high end products, that rookie jerseys are pieces of garbage. They aren't even used in games, they put them on at the Rookie Premiere! Practice jerseys would sound better, or maybe college jerseys, but at an Event. I dont think so! More autographs, less jerseys, and this would be nicer. The design is great by the way! Non-in my collection grade: D

2009 Playoff Absolute Memorabilia Football Hobby Box - Click Image to Close

2009 Absolute Memorabilia Football: Very nice design, but yet again, football companies shouldn't even consider the rookie photo shoot jerseys to be in $100 + boxes. If you know someone that actually likes these please let me know, because they are completely ridiculous. As for the other hits, this is a great product and is much better than Sterling. Be prepared to come close to getting your money back. Non-In my collection grade: B-

2009 Topps Chrome Football Hobby Box - Click Image to Close

2009 Topps Chrome Football: Not too bad, really like the Topps design this year, and they did a good job with this set. Nice on-card autos is always a plus, and the refractors look fabulous. There isn't much to say about this set, but overall it is a nice cheap, fun break. Non-In my collection grade: A-

Thanks for reading, and be sure to chime in and share your opinions! See Ya!

Grandpa Roy Column Answer

Hey guys, Drew back here, after I let the last question run for a little while, I will announce the answers, and you guys got all 7! I don't know if you used reference material while making answers, so not sure it uses all 100% of brain power. Here's the question if you forgot:

Michael Jordan, often considered the best basketball player ever to play the game, was recently inducted into the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame a few weekends ago. This superstar is one of only 7 players to have won the trifecta (Collegiate Championship, NBA Championship, and Olympic Gold Medal) in their careers, who are the others?

And here are the answers you guys made:

1: Michael Jordan, 1982 NCAA Champion, 1991; 1992; 1993; 1996; 1997; 1998 NBA Championships, 1984+1992 Olympic Gold Medals.

2: Magic Johnson, 1979 NCAA Champion, 1980; 1982; 1985; 1987; 1988 NBA Championships, Dream Team 1992 Olympic Gold Medal

3: Bill Russell, 1955 & 1956 NCAA Champion, 1957; 1959; 1960; 1961; 1962; 1963; 1964; 1965; 1966; 1968; 1969 NBA Championships (Yes, 11), 1956 Gold Men's Basketball Medal

4: Jerry Lucas, 1959; 1960; 1961 NCAA Champion, 1973; 1974 NBA Championships, 1960 Olympic Gold Medal

5: K.C. Jones, NCAA Champion, 1959; 1960; 1961; 1962; 1963; 1964; 1965; 1966 NBA Championships, 1956 Olympic Gold Men's Basketball Medal

6: Quinn Buckner, 1976 NCAA Champion, 1984 NBA Championship, 1976 Olympic Gold Medal

7: Clyde Lovellette, 1952 NCAA Champion, 1954, 1963, 1964 NBA Champion, 1952 Olympic Gold Medal

So, there are your 7, here are the guys that get credit for this question:

Duane (Democratic Roadkill): 2 Points (+ 1 More for making another question out of this)
SpastikMoose (GSNHOF): 1 Point
Don (Trammell to Whitaker): 5 Points

So there you have it, 5 for Don! You guys did pretty good with this, and here's my input on the question:

Well, making it far in high school is a tough challenge. There aren't 28 high schools, or colleges to play. You have to be number 1. And these 7 guys made such an effort to go far it's remarkable. To not only win the NCAA Championship but also win in the NBA is amazing, and add an Olympic medal and you are an accomplished man. 6 out of these 7 players are in the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame in Connecticut, as there names will forever be recognized by the word, "champion". In Michael Jordan's case, the newest Hall of Famer is often considered the greatest basketball player to walk this earth, and Bill Russell and Magic are up there too. But, as some sports stars such as A-Rod never accomplished being #1, these guys definitely have a reason for it.

*By the way, Duane, want to name the 3 guys who also won a high school medal for .5 points total? Leave a comment! Thanks buddy

Mail from Canada! Waxaholic Mail!

Hey guys, Drew back here. I just was notified by my mom that I have a fever, and this nasty cold has been going around, so I don't know how much I'll be on for the next few days. I want to heal by Sunday for the Jets game, so I'm going to need to rest up. Anyway, today I shipped out that guy's package on the Sport Card Forum, and 3 Through the Mails! I wanted to get some autographs before the season ends so I shipped 3 out to some of the faster guys. About 5 and an index card to the coolest guy in baseball Pat Neshek, 4 and an index card to Curtis Granderson, and 4 and an index card to Garret Anderson. So, please let me know how long Granderson takes, I hope a few weeks, but he'll be around for playoffs so I don't need to worry too much about him.

Anyway, yesterday I got some mail from Captain Canuck from Waxaholic. He sent me way more than I thought, even an unopened pack from 1991 Donruss! Here are the results, still need a little more than 50 cards in Allen & Ginter, so I'll try to make offers soon. Here you go:

Oh, yeah, plus, the last of my 3 eBay buys, a Nick Swisher Allen & Ginter Short Print Mini #333 base thing. Thanks for viewing!

How bout' dem Jets!

Congrats to my Jets for beating the Pats 16-9 yesterday! It's about time I do some sports talk, and this is a good start. My boy Mark Sanchez played really well, 14/22 throwing 163 yards and a touchdown! Stats don't say much about what Mark did yesterday, he did make his mistakes, but he looked much better than Brady! The stats overall for the Jets didn't say much, but the defense was amazing! Guys like Kris Jenkins, Kerry Rhodes, David Harris, and maybe the best cover cornerback in the league, Darrelle Revis, who made an awesome interception on Randy Moss yesterday, something like this:

http://www.nfl.com/videos/new-england-patriots/09000d5d812c03b2/Darrelle-Revis-interception

or this...

Now we are undefeated, 2-0, and big news, I may have mentioned it before, but I got tickets to next Sunday's game against the Titans in the Meadowlands. Dad & I have really nice seats we think, after dad went through a very frustrating time finding tickets, but eventually bought them off a guy on Craigslist. We had an option to go to yesterday's game but we decided we didn't want to see the Pats crush the Jets! But today, I celebrated with the very little handful of Jets fans in the school, one of them did go to see the game! Anyway, see ya later!

Grandpa Roy Column- Basketball Style!!!

What's up guys and girls, Drew back here, very excited right now due to the Jets game results vs New England, but time to run the next trivia question towards your contest point leaderboard. It is currently placed on the sidebar, but here is your Top 5 currently:

1- Hackenbush: 5.5 Points
2- mmosely: 4 Points
3- Collective Troll: 3.5 Points
4- Night Owl: 3 Points
5- Old School Breaks: 3 Points

Time isn't out yet! Here are ways to earn points so far:
- Trading cards I need from Swisher and Cano sets earns you 1/2 a point per card!!!
- Answering these questions gives you 1 point for every answer!
- 2 Points if you discover a player we left out in a Trivia question (Night Owl did it once)

So, today's question is basketball related, but I let it slide because this guy also played baseball, and, this is the "Trivia Corner" and isn't necessarily the Baseball Corner anymore. So, here is your question:

Michael Jordan, often considered the best basketball player ever to play the game, was recently inducted into the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame a few weekends ago. This superstar is one of only 7 players to have won the trifecta (Collegiate Championship, NBA Championship, and Olympic Gold Medal) in their careers, who are the others?

Hint Baseball Fans: 5 out of these 6 guys are in the Basketball Hall of Fame, and only 1 of them is played for the famous dream team (1992), other than MJ. Good luck

1: Michael Jordan, 1982 NCAA Champion, 1991; 1992; 1993; 1996; 1997; 1998 NBA Championships, 1984+1992 Olympic Gold Medals.

2: Magic Johnson, 1979 NCAA Champion, 1980; 1982; 1985; 1987; 1988 NBA Championships, Dream Team 1992 Olympic Gold Medal

3: Bill Russell, 1955 & 1956 NCAA Champion, 1957; 1959; 1960; 1961; 1962; 1963; 1964; 1965; 1966; 1968; 1969 NBA Championships (Yes, 11), 1956 Gold Men's Basketball Medal

4: Jerry Lucas, 1959; 1960; 1961 NCAA Champion, 1973; 1974 NBA Championships, 1960 Olympic Gold Medal

5: K.C. Jones, NCAA Champion, 1959; 1960; 1961; 1962; 1963; 1964; 1965; 1966 NBA Championships, 1956 Olympic Gold Men's Basketball Medal

6: Quinn Buckner, 1976 NCAA Champion, 1984 NBA Championship, 1976 Olympic Gold Medal

7: Clyde Lovellette, 1952 NCAA Champion, 1954, 1963, 1964 NBA Champion, 1952 Olympic Gold Medal

*UPDATE,1 MORE!!! Don has gotten 4 Points total on this question, and Duane came up with a great idea to include this as a bonus, which 3 of these players won a high school championship, college championship, NBA Championship, and an Olympic Medal?

1:

2:

3:

Remember the rules, only 1 answer at a time unless we need help and I let you know that you can answer multiple players. Give everyone time to answer questions, so everything is fair. +1 points for each player you name remember! See Ya, and Good luck!

Let's Trade!

Hey guys, just finished making a tradebucket, this page will be on the sidebar and you can access it as the trade corner. If you have any cards I want and are interested in one of these please shoot me an email to yanks1996wsc@gmail.com and I'll see what I can do. Thanks, Drew

drewscustomcards- Mark Sanchez!

Hey guys, Drew back here, after celebrating the Jets 16-9 win over the Patriots, I felt that I needed to make a custom card of that guy Mark Sanchez, was 14-22 with 163 yards and a touchdown. Many people deserve a card, but to start off the fresh 2-0 season I had to start with this one:

J-E-T-S Jets Jets Jets!!!!

Question: What part of Goodwin Champions do you hate the most?

A: 20th Anniversary Kindling
B: The Thin Cheap Card Stock
C: Bad Hits
D: Bad Checklist
E: Being a fan of Allen & Ginters makes this set worse

I say all 5, pick 1! Not sure what the worst part is, there are a few. I think if you combine this list you make a pretty ugly product. I'm very disappointed in it although I haven't touched 1 card yet. See ya!

I know, you're sick of me posting about what's in my mailbox but...

You're gonna have to read (and or watch) it. Today I got 2 packages, both WERE expected, thank god. The first one was an eBay purchase I made of 3 2008 Goudey Short Prints that I got dirt cheap, here is a very mini list:

205- Carlton Fisk (I already have this one, if you want it and have a different Goudey short print I need, please please please tell me)
211- Al Kaline
223- Whitey Ford (This card got me into purchasing this lot, awesome card!)

The second package was a trade I made with the Collective Troll, one of our fellow great bloggers! We made an ENORMOUS trade, I sent him 50 Rays cards, a numbered B.J. Upton and a bat card for about 80 cards he sent me, either Allen & Ginter I needed or Yankees stuff, a great variety. Thanks dude! Here is my video of these cards:

Please don't mind the music, rap is a love/hate genre and I like it, but I do also like rock, some pop, and R&B/Soul (at least thats what iTunes calls it).

By the way, The Collective Troll gets a 1/2 point each for the contest for these cards:
- 2009 Allen & Ginter Nick Swisher SP (.5)
- 2009 O-Pee-Chee Cano (.5)
- 2007 Topps Opening Day Cano (.5)
- 2008 Topps Swisher (.5)
- 2007 Upper Deck Cano (.5)
- 2007 Fleer Cano (.5)
- 2009 Allen & Ginter Cano National Pride (.5)

3 and a half points on the scoreboard! Keep it up Troll! If you have any Cano or Swisher cards for trade, 1/2 a point will be awarded to each card for our contest!

Today's Mail for Mr. Cards

Hey guys, Drew back here with 2 great maildays. Before I start, I made a trade with a guy on the sport card forum, my 1st on the site, and if you ever have done one before, you'd know trades are differently done there than on other forums (like the Blowout forum). You have to dig up information and tell the MOD's about it before you make the trade and let them know what day you will ship yadda yadda yadda. Anyway, I didn't know that so when I received my cards from the guy I traded with I didn't know I was supposed to ship, so if you're reading dude, it was an accident and I didn't know about it at all, and I will ship A.S.A.P. Anyway, here is a look at the 2 great cards this dude sent me:

I know, the 1st one is impossible to see, I should deeply consider taking my pictures in brighter areas other than my dark room! The 1st card is a 2009 Legendary Cuts Mattingly jersey numbered out of 100! That one is a sweet one at the least! That is now my 3rd game used of Donnie Baseball! The second one is a Fleer (from some year) 70's Decade Greats Chris Chambliss bat card! I have Chambliss' autograph on an 8x10 but this is a great addition to that small set I own of Chambliss! Thanks dude, and again sorry bout that.

The second mailday for today is courtesy of the website that starts with an e and ends with a bay! This was my big purchase if you recall from a few days ago, shipped very fast! Here is a picture of one of the crown-jewels cards from my Cano collection!

I got this huge piece of my collection for about 20 bucks! What a great deal that was! Thanks for looking, and see ya!

Hackenbush & Wicked Ortega please report to this blog page and claim your prize so I can!

The Un-Official Review of Goodwin Champions

Hey guys, Drew back here with my un-official review of the new Goodwin Champions...

Here is a nice math equation for you guys and gals:

Goodwin

Not too impressed. I don't have a card in my hands nor my collection. So, here is the good, the ugly, and the uglier...

The Good: A very nice base card design, although not Allen & Ginter, it still is reasonable. The price is great, but many other things are not. I like how they put tons of Yankees in this set, more than any before. C'mon, this card has to be the 1st of Rick Cerone after retirement. Do I want it? No, not really? Will I have it by the end of the year? Probably. The bug cards hopefully are interesting, as many people are spending lots of money on the redemptions. Would I pay $60 for a dead bug. Heck no, but others will. This set uses the gimmick more than Allen & Ginter, with the occasional easter egg cards and different variations, the strange non-sports guys that nobody has ever heard of. Do I like it? No, but again, other people are going to buy the stuff for that reason and that reason only. Like some people have said, this set seems to be a set that Upper Deck is making to drag people into the hobby. But the non-sports stuff in this set is making Allen & Ginter look like a very small case of the flu, while Goodwin is full force swine flu!!!

The Ugly (hasn't this already been ugly?): Look at the set checklist, right now I will list all of the pointless cards in this very small set:
13 Moose Skowron (nice for me, but for you guys... eh)
14 Donovan Bailey (non-sporty sporting a Canada flag, very un-patriotic to us UD!!!)
24 O.J. Mayo (why is the basketball stud replacing my baseball stud!)
33 Jeff Samardzija (now, this is insane, this guy isn't any good and he isn't a rookie. Blah!)
34 & 38 Ovechkin & Carey Price (don't mind Ovech but Price is boring)
44 Barack Obama (how many cards do we need of this dude?)
53 Anderson Silva (never, never should I be looking at shirtless men)
55 Chad Reed (never heard of him... cool card, in motorcycle sets)
61 Michael Beasley (another stupid basketball dude that has depression problems)
70 Chuck Lidell (better than Silva, but I still don't want him)
74 Gerry Lopez (WHO IS HE???)
84 Joe Lewis (MORE SHIRTLESS MEN!!!)
88 Peggy Fleming (WHO IS SHE???)
90 Jonathan Teows (LOOK 3 ROWS ABOVE FOR MY OPINION)
105 Evelyn Ng (Ng= Not good)
115 Smarty Pants I mean Jones (a horse!!!)
116 Christi Yamagucki (says it all in the name)
118 Bucky Dent (now, I'm a Yankees fan, but 1 home run doesn't get you a ba jillion cards 30 years later)
128 Bill Rogers (MR. ROGERS!!! No its just Bill)
129 Laird Hamilton (more almost shirtless men!)
Won't hurt the Hockey fans with the Orr and Howe cards
143 Derrick Rose (a nice card, but eh...)
146 Phil Hellmuth (the 1st 4 letters in his name explain it all)
151 Cory Wade (yuck)
154 Gavin Floyd (autos being pulled by the dozen, just a boring player)
157 Kelly Shoppach (this guy needs to fill out a few trillion forms before he gets into my set!)
160 Mike Parsons (this card is kinda weird, no comment)
161 Jeremy Bloom (some random guy hugging his skis, weird)
178 Jonathan Albaledejo (how does this guy get a V.I.P. entrance into every set?)
187 Joe Alexander (one of the strangest cards I've ever seen)
193 Donnie Gay (another strange card)
And what's a set without good ol' Rick Cerone!

Yes, I'll guarentee someone leaves a comment saying you could do the same thing with Allen & Ginter, but here's my take. If it looks amazing I'll take it. If it's garbage it stays next to the McDonalds french fries I saw on the street.

The Ugliest: These:

Thanks Upper Deck for ruining my thoughts on collecting.

Don't fret guys. I will still open a box for old collecting (if you call it that) sake. I may not go for the set but definitely will search for all Cano's and Yankees. See ya!

Grandpa Roy Column Answers

Hey guys, Drew back here, after I let the latest Grandpa Roy Column question last for like a week it's time to reveal the answers to the question, which if you need refreshing, here is the question again:

I am one of 3 men in the history of Major League Baseball to proudly wear the uniform of the Giants, Dodgers, Mets and Yankees. I also hit an inside the park homerun in the World Series. Who am I? And who are the other 2?

1:
2:
3:
4:

And your answers,

1: Casey Stengel, Inside the Parker and All 4 Teams, guessed by Captain Canuck
2: Daryl Strawberry, Played for all 4 Teams, guessed by Night Owl
3: Ricky Ledee, Played for all 4 Teams, guessed by Night Owl (+2 points for him because there were only 3 and we didn't noticed that there were 4)
4: Jose Vizcaino, Played for all 4 Teams, not guessed by anyone

So, +3 to Night Owl, +1 to Captain Canuck. Thanks for looking!
