Mail from Cardboard Heaven

Hey guys, Drew back here, with the next package of I believe 11 packages this week. My mailbox is exploding this week because of the need for 2010 Topps, and I'm actually pretty close to finishing the base set, just 4 more cards (218, 242, 249, 264). The insert sets, however, will take some work. But I have until May to worry about those things, when Series 2 comes out. This trade I made with Cameron of Cardboard Heaven was made just before the hype began with 2010 Topps, and here are the cards he sent me:

The trade was originally a 1 for 2 deal, him getting 2 and me getting 1, but we both included a few extras in the packages. Here are 4 of the extras he sent, a sweet Phil Hughes RC I needed, a Jeter Sport Royalty I needed, a Cotchery 09 Topps Chrome I needed, and a nice Javier Vazquez Play Ball card I needed. I may eventually extend my 2008 Goudey wantlist, I really like the Black & White player variations, so that means I should also try the Sport Royalties and Presidents. Only 11 more Legend SP's!!!

Cameron included this 1981 Donruss Reggie as well. I really like Reggie and I may soon throw him up on the PC's list too. He seemed to have his own world, but not as crazy as what's going on in Ozzie Guillen & Manny's heads! I needed this card as well, people are finding ways to send me cards I don't have, which is awesome.

Just when I thought this couldn't get better, I saw this 1999 Topps Chrome A.J. Burnett rookie card! I have 1 of Burnett already but this one is much nicer, so it will be the replacement for Burnett in the rookie card hunt. This card is really nice, and Burnett has had a very successful career so far, in a quiet manner, well, except for the Pies in the Face.

And lastly, the card I traded for, a 2008 Allen & Ginter Grandy auto! This isn't my first auto of Mr. Granderson, last year I got a TTM back from him, and he signed a postcard thing for me, and he had to bend it to fit it in the SASE. Anyway, this is an awesome looking card and a sweet upgrade for me! I hope Grandy has a big year this year and that the Yanks can go all the way... again!

Thanks Cameron a lot for the cards, See Ya!

eBay Pickup!

Hey guys, Drew back here, with a very quick post here about the first of 3 cards I bought from eBay, and this is now the 3rd of 7 owed package posts, I want to combine them but haven't had the time. Here is the card:

Card: 2007 Ultimate Collection America's Pastime Autograph #AP-NW Nick Swisher
Price: Around $5 shipped

I really like the design of the card, and Upper Deck did a good job with the sticker, it's perfectly centered and the auto looks sweet. I should be posting my Swisher collection this weekend at some point, I'm getting piled in awesome packages right now so I'm very behind. Still have a ton coming, so, I guess that's it.

Oh wait, almost forgot, sounds like Upper Deck doesn't have to shut down the business after the MLB and them reached an agreement today. I think products such as Goudey and a few other soon expected releases won't be able to be released, so that kinda sucks, and from now on they will need to hide all logos and need permission for everything they use basically. It basically is saying goodbye to Upper Deck without actually saying it. What are they gonna do, take pictures of players at home, mountain biking, hiking, swimming, and playing video games? Oh wait, scratch the video games, they need a license, haha. See Ya!

Sports Card Forum Mail

Hey guys, Drew back here, with the next of 7 owed mailday posts, the second one. I have a 2 hour delay for school as it's snowing (again!), and at this point I'm sick of this and just wanna get spring underway. Anyway, the next package, the smallest one, was from the Sports Card Forum, which I have now traded 9 times I think. I traded my duplicate Cotchery auto from Philadelphia for these 2 Jets cards:

2008 Donruss Threads Century Collection Materials Joe Klecko Relic /250
This card is sweet! I love the vintage relic on the card, and I now only need a rookie card for the trifecta for Klecko! He is my dad's All Time favorite football player, so he really likes the auto and game used I picked up of him.

2008 Upper Deck Icons Rookie Brilliance Dustin Keller /99
Unfortunately this is from the Rookie Premiere, which I absolutely hate, but it has a cool design and is numbered to 99. One of the reasons I don't buy much football is due to every product having these cards. Dustin Keller is a great young player and I have quite a few nice cards of his, now just need an auto!

See Ya!

Contest Loot from Pack Addict!

Hey guys, Drew back here, with a first of 7 packages between yesterday and today (6 yesterday!!!) , a new record, which includes 1 eBay purchase, 3 trades, a contest loot, and a TTM!!! I guess we'll kick it all off with this cool contest by Pack Addict. He was giving away 6 packs, 3 1994 Star Basketball, and 3 1997 Playbook Footballs. He also told me to pick any 22 cards from his 1992 Action Packed break, which was sweet! Got some sweet stuff, here are my revealed winnings:

That...

turned into these:

The design isn't anything special but the player selection is great, even though I did get multiple cards of the same players. I have a pathetic selection of basketball cards so getting 2 Bill Waltons, 2 Larry Birds, 2 Kevin McHales, a Walt Frazier, and 3 Tim Hardaways. Sweet.

Next, 3 Chris Mullins and 3 John Starks, I like how they used different photos for each card, but on the back they used 1 photo for every card the player has.

And 5 Charles Barkleys! Many people don't like him in general, I don't mind him, but I hate this.

And these packs turned into these:

At first, I was really confused with the set. You get a few regular sized cards and a numbered big card per pack. I also realized that the base set is multiple groups of 10, a group for each position. So, for example, I pulled 4 out of 10 Quarterbacks, including a Pat Barnes RC and a Steve Young. There are also 10 wide receiver cards, and I got an Issac Bruce, a Keyshawn for my Jets collection, and a rookie card of one of the greatest, if not the greatest tight end ever, Tony Gonzalez. Pretty cool if you ask me.

Next are a few cards from the Defense, and Running Back subsets. We got Shawn Springs and Cortez Kennedy for D, and the backs were Bettis and Eddie George. The only insert regular sized card we got was a Reggie White Stand Out Numbers, and it's really nice. Under that is the first of 3 jumbo cards, this one again of Reggie White numbered to 2000. Cool!

The last 2 "Magnified" cards, as they call them, are of Brett Favre numbered to 2700 and a Drew Bledsoe to 2000. They are the same as regular cards but bigger and numbered. You can pull a regular Quarterback "Magnified", or a running back or whatever. These were pretty cool packs.

Lastly, here are the 22 cards I picked up from his box break of 1992 Action Packed:

Figured I'd start with the 3 guys in this lot that I've met. All 3 guys, Al Oliver, Bill Madlock, and Roy White are really nice guys. I haven't gotten any of these cards before but I have seen them around, they're kind of 3D, parts of the player sticks out. Some look really cool, yet some are a teeny bit scary looking at an angle.

The next 8 I picked were: Tony Oliva (FT), Bud Harrelson (possible future TTM), Dave Kingman (FT), Sam McDowell (FT), Rusty Staub (FT), Boog Powell (FT), Bobby Bonds (might keep), and George Foster (same as Bonds). I really like these cards yet I wanted just a few of them, so I just picked a bunch of stars from the day.

The next 8 are: Mark Fidyrich (R.I.P. not for trade), Virgil Trucks (future TTM possibility), Bob Gibson (I ever tell ya Bob Gibson is a favorite of mine from the old days?), Bert Campaneris (FT), Sal Bando (FT, why is he in 09 Tribute anyway?), Ron Santo (who should be in the Hall), and Minnie Minoso (FT, I know someone who might want it). I don't know why but I really like Bob Gibson. I have a couple Game Used of him plus an on card auto, so I guess he is a favorite.

Rounding out the group are 4 Yankee greats, Moose Skowron, Gil McDougald, Frank Crosetti, and Chris Chambliss. None of these for trade, as they will enter my box of Yankees. My favorite out of this group has gotta be the Skowron, it looks cool in person.

Thanks so much for the contest!!! Please check out Pack Addict, great blog! See Ya!
