Mail from Sports Card Forum

Hey guys, Drew back here. Sorry about all the mail posts lately, I'm behind and I've gotten a ton lately. I should be ahead after the weekend though, so that's good. I know you probably are getting a bit tired of all this, but I'm assuring you that one of those trading dead spots will be coming soon to a theater near me so the regular card news topic posts will be back. Anyway, I got a package from the Sports Card Forum, my 11th deal on the site now, and I'm impressed. Many of the Forum guys tend to be jerks but I kinda find that more on the Blowout Forum. Either way, they're both excellent trading sites, and that's why I'm on them both. Here is what I got this time:

First just a few random extras, nothing much here except for the fact that I needed the A-Rod/Jeter/Cano for the Cano PC. I have it in my 08 Heroes complete set but I did need a second for the PC, so that's cool.

And... my obsession with guys I meet's tiny pieces of jersey continue. I really enjoy meeting players, and it makes me respect them more, which is what has happened with Mattingly, Al Oliver, Dave Parker, and Bill Madlock. That is why they all deserve a spot on my PC list. John Montefusco is nice too so I may attempt to get something of his as well. Anyway, that is a 2007 Sweet Spot Classic Dave Parker relic. I really like this relic set and have about 5 now, and here's another one in it...

REGGIE! REGGIE! REGGIE! This is my 1st jersey piece of his and although I'd prefer him in pinstripes this is a sweet card and I'm happy to own it. These 2 relics ain't going nowhere!!!

Thanks SCF dude! And before I go, I wanted to give the Troll a quick shoutout. Well, he doesn't need much of a shoutout anymore as he just surpassed 100 followers, but he is running a contest with some sick prizes, and I hope you all can check it out. All you have to do is leave a comment with your name, be subscribed, and have him on your blog roll if you have a blog. That's it. I'm not showing you anything here, so I guess you'll just have to go to his blog to find out...

Some Recent Mailbox Love

Hey guys, Drew back here. I am starting to fall a little behind but I'm in decent shape right now. By the way, I got an RTS from Phil Coke yesterday, wrong address, my bad. I'll try him again during the season. Anyway, got 3 packages to share with you, the first is courtesy of William from foul bunt. This guy is one of the best guys I've met on this blog journey, he and I have made several trades and have talked quite a bit through email. He invited me into his fantasy team and sent me an extremely long email about not making the team. He sent me some cards out of kindness and I got them yesterday. Here they are:

Here we have some nice oddballs from 1995 of Whitey Ford and Reggie Jackson. Never seen them before and they look cool. Next is a cool looking hologram followed by a 1990 Fleer Dave Winfield. I love the shot on that card and is a favorite in my Winfield catalog. On the bottom row, we have a 2009 Unique Teixeira, I have the red parallel and now the base as well. Lastly, 3 2010 Upper Decks, a Melky base, a Burnett Biography, and a Cano biography that I needed for the PC.

In this group we have 2 1990 Topps, Winfield and Bucky Dent, and 3 1986 All Stars, Winfield, Mattingly, and Guidry. I needed the Mattingly so that's awesome. The last one in this group was a 1990 Score Bernie rookie card. This is a nice shot though I would've preferred a braces shot, it cracks me up to see him in braces when he was a rookie. That is a nice card no doubt!

And finally, here are a bunch of 1998 Topps from a recent break. I don't think I had one single card from this set beforehand, so a chunk of Yanks is nice. The Pettitte is my favorite with the Tino and Jeter at a close second.

Thanks so much William! On to the next one...

Another Sports Card Forum trade! This one landing me a few Kleckos and Namaths, as well as a few Mattinglys. The upper left Namath is my favorite of the bunch, the picture is amazing! I also like the Post Mattingly. Thanks SCF dude!

And since I should be going to bed and in a rush, here's the last package I'll show ya, a very special one from today.

Yep, that is a 2009 Topps Tribute jersey card of Whitey Ford. I know you're oooowing and aaahing at it right now so I'll let you look at it for a sec.

Ok, there. Now read. I got this for $7.00 plus $3.00 shipping on eBay. 10 bucks for a Whitey Ford jersey /99 from a $50 per pack product? Crazy, but true. This is a sweet card to add to the collection and I'm glad to have it. There is a small hint of a pinstripe too so that's a bonus!

All right, going to bed now zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz........ See Ya!

A Bunch of Mail, Trying to Catch Up!

Hey guys, Drew back here. Today, I wanna try to catch up a bit, I have a baseball tryout later, but it's only to divide up teams evenly, and after that I've got a friend staying over, so that'll be cool. Here are 3 quick maildays, check em out!

Package 1: Care Package from Mike Pelfrey Collectibles

Man I gotta send this guy some stuff back!!! He is really attacking me with awesome new cards, all of these were needed. There were 6 base cards I needed, along with those inserts. I like the Ruths the most, the one of him in a Sox uniform actually has a Yankees logo on the back... sweet. Can anybody cheer Yadier Molina up? Thanks a lot dude!

Package 2: Care Package from Sports Card Forum Member markinca

Next we have a nice package from markinca from the Sports Card Forum. He sent me 14 needed base cards from 2010 Topps. So I don't have to go through this trading mess next series, I'll do a jumbo box for Series 2 maybe. There are a couple awesome players in this lot, he sent the Griffey at the top of the post, which is one of my favorites in the entire set so far. Pat Neshek, Joe Nathan, and Pablo Sandoval all sign TTM, Sheffield used to be my favorite player when he was a Yankee, and Hamilton played for a minor league team that I root for, and a field I've played on, so I kinda consider him a local-ish guy. So this is a cool lot, thanks a lot dude!

Package 3: Trade with Slangon of Condition:Poor

Slangon really hooked me up in this trade, giving me 8 base card needs from 2010 Topps, a few inserts, and he threw in a bunch of extra Yankees. My favorites are the ones on the bottom, I love the 09 Sweet Spot base cards and only have a few, and I needed the Damon and Chien-Ming Wangs so that was cool. I haven't seen that A-Rod/Sheffield 06 Topps card in a long time, and I don't have that either so that's awesome. Someone tell baby David Ortiz to put a shirt on!!! It's cool to see Damon as a baby too, we're gonna miss him in NY this year. Thanks dude!

So thanks to everyone in this post who sent me stuff, as I'm on the verge of catching up! See Ya!

Sports Card Forum Mail

Hey guys, Drew back here, with the next of 7 owed mailday posts, the second one. I have a 2 hour delay for school as it's snowing (again!), and at this point I'm sick of this and just wanna get spring underway. Anyway, the next package, the smallest one, was from the Sports Card Forum, which I have now traded 9 times I think. I traded my duplicate Cotchery auto from Philadelphia for these 2 Jets cards:

2008 Donruss Threads Century Collection Materials Joe Klecko Relic /250
This card is sweet! I love the vintage relic on the card, and I now only need a rookie card for the trifecta for Klecko! He is my dad's All Time favorite football player, so he really likes the auto and game used I picked up of him.

2008 Upper Deck Icons Rookie Brilliance Dustin Keller /99
Unfortunately this is from the Rookie Premiere, which I absolutely hate, but it has a cool design and is numbered to 99. One of the reasons I don't buy much football is due to every product having these cards. Dustin Keller is a great young player and I have quite a few nice cards of his, now just need an auto!

See Ya!

Awards Recap & Mailday

Hey guys, Drew back here, last night was a long one but it seems that everyone is happy with the outcome of our awards. We didn't get that many votes, so that part wasn't great, but for the most part everything went well. Thanks to all who voted and made it (somewhat) possible, and thanks to all the nominees for providing an awesome source of entertainment in my life. I think the awards went to some of the best in the business, even though they don't wanna admit it. So, thanks for everything guys, and now it is time to move on!

What better way to move on than posting some mail I got quite a while ago, from reader John. I've seen his name in trades a few times now, and he certainly impressed me! Due to all the holidays and awards I will have yours shipped Monday if you're reading. Also, I got 3 packages in from the Blowout Forum and Sports Card Forum. I made a mistake on the video saying only 2 from those sites but it's really 3, sorry about that. I've now made 5 trades on Blowout and 6 on SCF. Not bad. Check them out!

Yesterday's (and the day before) Mail

Hey guys, Drew back here, next time you hear from me hopefully I will be trapped in snow and posting the final nominees for the blog awards, something I'm working on now. So, I got some mail in the past few days, and why not share with you, like always? I'm also buying a junkload of cards from check out my cards for trades and for my friend, and for me. You'll see soon.

Both of these maildays were courtesy of the Sports Card Forum, they were my 4th & 5th trades on the site, still waiting on 2 more from SCF and one from Blowout Card Forum. The 1st one had some mixed Yankees, including a very shiny one, and a game used for the PC that is non Yankee related. Here they are:

Some Mixed Cano/Yankees:
Needed a couple of these and boy will I miss Matsui, that mini is nice. A couple Mattingly's I didn't have and some nice Bowman's Best Cano's!

2009 Finest Mark Teixeira Blue Refractor /399
I have a few base cards from this set, and let me tell you this may be my favorite base card design of the year, add a refractor touch and a shining blue border and you have one heck of a card. I didn't have any parallels yet so I joined in the parade and I'm happy I did!

2007 Sweet Spot Classic Al Oliver Game Used
It was one of those days where all you do is go around sites looking for stuff to put in your collection, and I saw this and wanted it right away. I met Al Oliver if you remember, back in August, and now I just need the rookie card to get the trifecta for him! Sweet!

And trade 2....

2009 Topps 206 Robinson Cano Piedmont Jersey Relic
Well, I want to get all 3 types of this card as soon as I can, I have 2 now, the Polar Bear & now this. The card is spectacular, and although I am yet to get anything else I must say this is a great set. I'm up to 14 special Cano cards in my PC, not bad, although two of them are just numbered inserts from Baseball Heroes. A 1/1, 6 swatch, jerseys, YSL jerseys, Triple Threads, and more. Go Cano!

2009 Topps Career Best Cano Dual Bat
I've seen this card a million times and I thought I should although it looked really ugly. Boy was I wrong. This card is awesome! Love it!

Thanks to the two of you that made this happen, kyleb & markinca! See ya!

Big Mailday!

Hey guys, Drew back here. I haven't posted much lately because I have been focused mainly on school, and really haven't had much time for cards. I'm looking to catch up on stuff for everyone that I owe, plus get some cards for my friend for his birthday, plus work on my own PC. I actually have become interested in other Yankees lately, especially due to some rumors that Swisher could get traded. I also want to get the Granderson rookie card since he was just added to the team. Honestly, I don't want the Yanks getting Halladay because I don't want guys like Swisher, Cabrera, Gardner, Cervelli, or Jesus Montero's jobs in jeopardy, and don't forget Hughes & Joba. So, anyway, here is some of the mail I've gotten recently. Some sweet stuff in there, be sure to check it out!

Smaller Wantlist:

Need these!!!!

2009 Allen & Ginter Sketch Card 2 (Griffey Jr.)
2007 UD Masterpieces Cards #16, 54, 67
Curtis Granderson RC
Any Cano/Swisher Topps 206/Topps Unique/Goodwin/Sp Authentic/Ticket to Stardoms

Let me know by email, yanks1996wsc@gmail.com

See Ya!
