Next Break Update

How does this look to you for the 3rd Quarter Spectacular:

2 Boxes possibly splitting with Sweeny ( not sure yet, but it is our best idea so far. He hasn't decided if he wants to split a box this quarter yet)

1 Box of Elements for me

1 Box of Topps 09 Series 1

This will happen if all works out as planned, unless I reconsider with Mike

Update

Hey guys, haven't posted in a while, but I figured I should do an update. I still haven't had the chance to buy any 2009 Topps cards yet, but I'm really looking forward to doing so. I really like the Legends inserts and I like how they put Turkey Red back in business, although I wish they put it back as a full brand. Overall, I really want to bust this, but not all that excited about the Upper Deck. I've been so caught up with Topps that I've barely paid attention to Upper Deck. Anyway, for the Hall Of Fame Special, I will put up some cool videos and I will do a couple boxes. I sort of am doubting buying a box of 07 SP Legendary Cuts, but I definitely know I will buy a box of 07 Sweet Spot Classic. Depending on the money in my pocket, I may get a second box, if not just packs, but I haven't been interested in much except 09 Topps, so I might buy a box of that. I will certainly buy something of Topps while I'm there, maybe a jumbo pack or something. I'm not too excited about the hits in the Topps, but I really like the inserts. Plus, You get a ton of cards, and I probably will be able to complete my first set. Some other products I may want to get: 09 Topps Heritage, which hasn't been released yet but will be by the time we get to the Hall, maybe Topps Finest 09, and that's about it. Thanks for viewing all you 20 viewers I had out there, and See Ya!

Valentines Day Bash!!!

Yo Whats Up Guys, it's Valentines Day, of course, and I got some cards. I got two blaster boxes of Upper Deck Masterpieces, a pack of 08 Topps Jumbo, and a hobby pack of Topps Stadium Club baseball. So I'll start with the Masterpieces:

Retail Product Info:
7 Packs + 1 Amazing Bonus Pack!
4 Cards per pack, unless if there is a Legacy card, then there is 5 cards
1 SP per box (not sure)

So I got some really nice cards. My short prints in the two boxes were of Ryne Sandberg and Johnny Bench. I completed 65% of the base set, which is 120 cards. Cards 91-120 in the set are SPs, but I think I could complete the set if I focus on it. I have gotten sets before, but never actually have completed one. I have a want list, and I'm trying to collect quite a few baseball sets from 08. Anyway, getting back on track, my legacy cards were of: Roy White, Elston Howard, Thurman Munson, and Roger Maris. I actually met Roy White a couple years back at a card show, and got his autograph. I have a picture with him...
So I was very impressed with the Masterpieces boxes. Here are a few nice cards I got in them...
The two short prints, don't have many pics loaded on the computer, sorry.

Next was the pack of Topps Series 2 Jumbo from 2008. I was also impressed with this. I never really tried hobby stuff of this, but I actually like it. It had quite a few inserts, well, there should be, there's like 45 cards per pack. There was a Topps Stars Jose Reyes, a Newspaper Headline of Frank Thomas, a Presidential Campaign Card of James Buchanon and some other Republican guy that faced him, a Trading Card History of Nick Markakis, a Gold Foil Card of AJ Pierzinski #ed/2008, a Hideki Okajima 50th Anniversary Insert, and a Red Hot Rookie Redemption Card, which I redeemed and should be in by my birthday in July, but probably won't. It is card # 13, which is Chris Dickerson of the Reds.

Finally, in the pack of Topps Stadium Club, I got a Troy Tulowitski #ed/999, a Chris B Young Photographers Proof #ed/99, a Garrett Atkins base, a very thick 1st Day Issue Eric Chavez #ed/599, and a sick looking Beam Team Autograph of Jesse Crain of the Minnesota Twins. He is a pitcher if you haven't heard of him, and I guess a pretty good reliever. The card is not numbered, but it is definitely not up for trade unless something way better comes up. Here is a picture of me holding the card up so you can see the cool stain-glass effect to the card.

So thats about it, Happy Valentines Day, and see ya!

February 7th Nets Game Pictures

Here are some pictures from the Nets game I went to last week. I included a video of me opening some packs of basketball cards and included a video of the Nuggets running out of the locker room onto the court. Enjoy!

- I got to play on the court with some CYO teams from around our county. Above is a picture iof me hitting a layup. I'm really suprised how easy it was. I could hit a three on that court like it's at my own hoop. My school gym is bigger than the Izod Center court!

- Above is a picture of 4 of the 6 St. Joesphs kids, me & some other kids, and it's pretty cool. We were the 4 oldest, and got to play with the older kids, and we did a drill where you take shots from 3 point range. It was pretty cool because the 3 other kids banked the threes, and it was down to me. I hit it, and same with all of the other St Joes older kids!

- Sean Williams taking a 3 during practice

- Josh Boone during practice. He actually grew up playing for one of the local CYO teams, and got a chance to seak with those kids before the game, not including me.

- Brook Lopez before the game

- Carmelo Anthony

- Chris Anderson, who I've never heard of until now, I guess is a great blocker for the Nuggets. Some of the kids from my church got his autograph on the stupid and gay Latin Night shirts we got.

The pack video is below

Here is a video of the Nuggets pre-game celebrations

So there you have it guys, basically just showed the best of the best to you. I have tons of other pictures, but these are my favorites. See Ya!

Suggestions

Wanted to let you know that I will take suggestions now for my links on the side bar. Any youtubers, card websites, and blogs. LMK, Thanks, Drew

National Treasures Is Absolutely Sicker Than Ever!

This is the best football high-end product I've ever seen. If I had the money, I would buy a couple boxes. I've seen non-stop sickness come out of the product, including pdazzle1010 on youtube pulled an absolutely sick Matt Ryan Falcon Patch, and then I saw this video today that chri5784 did. It was a request by some dude for a box of 07 and a box of 08. I really noticed how much more work they spent on 08. So I saw two sick cards. One was a dual Reebok Logo Patch of Matt Ryan & Joe Flacco, and earlier in the box, he pulled one of the rarest cards out there. A Presidential Cut Signature, of Benjamin Harrison. I will never miss one video on youtube of this brand. It is insanely sick, and I wish I could get some.
Heres the links:

pdazzle's box: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uYbpF-PNi0s
chris' box: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x1uOUvWSCxw

Have fun watching, and PS, just noticed that almost every video that is a box of this stuff, it says next to the name either cursing, mojo, sickness, everything!

Wanted to mention

If you sub to my blog, or follow it, or whatever it's called, I'll advertise your blog for you and put you on my blog reading list. All you have to do is leave a comment or follow my blog, and just say what your blog name is. Please only comment on this blog entry. Thank You, and I hope you like the idea.

Ideas???

Hey guys, just wondering what you are thinking about this my next break, sometime in April. I am going to the Baseball Hall Of Fame with my dad, and we are also shopping around Cooperstown. Obviously, there are tons of baseball stores in the city, including one called Pioneer Sports Cards. I want to get a box (or two) and open them live in front of the Hall Of Fame. I was curious if you had any product ideas within that the last 2 or 3 years that mainly consists of Hall Of Famers. It would be pretty epic, and I really can't wait to go to the Hall, especially seeing that Honus Wagner T-206 card, and the first baseball, and this and that, everything. See Ya!

PS: Got two I might open unless you have a better idea:
07 Sweet Spot Classic & 07 SP Legendary Cuts

Thanks a lot

2009 drewscards Baseball Card Guide

Hey guys, drewscards here with what I am going to do for 2009. If you are a collector like me, by looking for good bargains on boxes with some pretty sweet expectations, this should help you.

So of course, in 2008, Topps had those stupid designs that I used to like, with the circles with the teams letters in them, and the name on the bottom with a white border around the picture of the card. I bought some stuff of it in the beginning of the year, until I noticed some other products that I may enjoy collecting more, like Upper Deck. I liked the inserts in Topps last year, well, some. Topps Stars was pretty cool, I could live with the news headline ones, and probably everyone loves the Mickey Mantles. I have really high expectations on this years Topps. The cards are very nice looking, and I really think many collectors will like this product. Topps needed to devote more time on this flagship brand, mainly in fear of what happened to basketball cards, which probably will never happen in baseball, but you never know. We won't be collecting Panini cards, that's for sure. Here is a preview of some of the Topps cards:you can see more topps here:
http://completist.wordpress.com/2008/11/06/2009-topps-preview/
Plus, also check out Mario's blog, Wax Heaven, the site where the link goes to.

I bought a lot of Upper Deck last card season. I really liked the cards, especially the pictures. One thing I always hated about Upper Deck was all the different products: 1st Edition, Stars & Stripes, Series 2, etc. It is hard to complete a set when there all billions of products to choose from. Why can't they have just Series 1, and Series 2, and call it a day? It is very stupid, but I'm not giving up on it. I still will buy many of the cards for this season. I haven't gotten 1 single card from 2009 yet, but I'm pretty sure I will buy more Topps than Upper Deck based on the flagship brands. Here is Mario's preview for Upper Deck over at Wax Heaven.
http://completist.wordpress.com/2008/11/03/exclusive-first-images-of-09-upper-deck/

Other products I will consider buying boxes of in 2009:
Allen & Ginter
Topps Chrome
Topps Heritage
Upper Deck Piece Of History
and possibly Upper Deck Goudey, and whatever else sounds cool

I'm going to completely try to avoid Opening Day, Spectrum, and SP Authentic as well as any other stupid products that may come back next year like Upper Deck X, & Bowman. I will never buy Tristar, Just Minors, or Razor products, because in my opinion, that is a card sin. If you collect baseball cards, buy Topps, Upper Deck, & Donruss, and call it a day. Here are some other previews the one and only Mario has to show:

Upper Deck Spectrum

Topps Finest

Icons (brand new-1st release ever for baseball)

O-Pee-Chee (always been around, came back)

Thanks for looking guys, hope you enjoy 09'!

A-Roid

To think I started a whole PC for this man. I never liked him as a person, and I respected him as a player. I'm a Yankees fan, and a lot of these fans have mixed opinions about A-Rod, including me. I no longer respect him at all, since we now know that he cheated, him even admitting it. My example of what just happened is like if you steal a cookie out of the jar when your parents aren't paying attention. You hope they don't find out, and if they do, you pretend like nothing happened. If something like that happens in my case, I'd say I didn't do it and blame it on someone else first, but eventually admit it after they know I'm lying. If I don't tell the truth right then and there, even as simple as taking a cookie out of a jar and eating it, you could get in big trouble (in bigger cases), or maybe grounded for lying. Thank You God for letting this man tell the truth before everyone hates him. Andy Pettitte was on HGH too, but nobody remembers that anymore because he went straight forward and admitted that he used them. Jason Giambi admitted, and somewhat apologized for it, and now A-Rod. Don't get me wrong, I still don't like him at all, but I like how he finally noticed he has a team that's about to play, and he shouldn't bother them and be selfish about whatever it is: Madonna, Roids, anything. In Hall Of Fame Retrospective, he will probably become all-time home run king if he doesn't let this issue bother him, and may still go down as one of the best overall players all-time. I'm very sure that he will make it, along with Derek Jeter, Albert Pujols, Roger Clemens, and Jeff Kent, and possibly Mike Mussina, but they should put something on his plaque stating that he used steroids. A-Rod wouldn't want this to happen to him, and probably dreamed of what it would say on his plaque when he was young. He should've thought before he went out and did steroids, and Michael Phelps with his marijuanna as well. It ruins some kid's hearts because maybe they looked up to him and were devastated by the news. So, this is going out to all sports players. Don't do steroids, because no matter how 'good' you are, you won't be respected if you stand up and lie to the grand jury (Roger Clemens), or if you go out and smoke some joints at a bar (Michael Phelps). Your legacies, in my opinion, are completely shattered.

2008 Upper Deck Football Heroes Box Break Split!

Hey guys, drewscards here with a box break recap that I busted w/ my friend Mike. We Split this weak one, but anyway, here is the recap:

7 TONY IOMMI CARDS AND NO JETS!!!
Come on now Upper Deck, that is plain ridiculous, this is by far, one of the worst boxes I've ever busted. We got 6 cards of Tom Morello and some stupid fat dude named Rulon Gardner. Are You Kidding Me? Now, for the football players

#ed Cards:
- Dwight Lowery RC #ed/350
- Jonathan Heffney RC #ed/350
- Joe Flacco RC #ed/75
- Joseph Addai #ed/350
- Roger Craig #ed/75
- Franco Harris #ed/350
- Bob Sanders #ed/350
- Wes Welker #ed/25

And the good stuff (ugh)

My Hits-- Patrick Willis Relic #ed 52/75

- Tashard Choice Rookie Autograph #ed/250

Mikes Hits-
- Brodie Croyle Relic #ed/125- Malcolm Kelly Redemption Rookie Autograph

So Mike just redeemed the card hopefully, and boy, I guess that was the hit of the box. LMK what you think though. I'm still upset about the box. That's the end of my 2nd Quarter Spectacular, but I will have a recap for the Heroes baseball box eventually. The Steelers, if you haven't heard, won the Super Bowl, and I'm happy. I'm a proud (well, sort of) fan of the New York Football Jets, but I always liked the Steelers and I'm happy that they ended up getting the most in history. Also, do you think if Big Ben wins another Super Bowl and Hines Ward, do you think they have a shot in the Hall Of Fame? I think so, but I want to know what you think. Finally, on Sundays, I will debut the new drewscards Sunday Show, talking cards, sports, funny news, and others. I may try to put it online, but it may be a pain. So, that's about it, thanks for reading and vote on the poll, and follow me, See Ya!
