Check Out My Cards Purchase Part 1

Hey guys, Drew back here, with a nice new shipment of sweetness in my mailbox, I am a happy guy. Especially after spending my $60 Easter cash on Check Out My Cards! I've bought from this site I think 3 or 4 times now, and it is one of the best websites ever invented.

Today in school, we had our retreat. The sports were fun even though a fight broke out during Capture the Flag, and the guest speaker was really cool. Duane Brooks, Defensive Line Coach from Yale, spoke to us about his life, he played for the Patriots, Redskins, and Saints, but didn't do anything major. I don't think he even has a card, after checking Beckett I got nothing. Just wanted to tell you all about that, he was really cool.

Anyway, getting back to the first part of my shipment, pretty sweet stuff especially when there is much better stuff in the next part, stay tuned for that possibly tomorrow or Sunday! Here they are:

2008 Goudey #201 Brooks Robinson SP
I got this card for about 50 cents, because I needed it for the Goudey SP set. This is a really nice set, and since there won't be a 2010 Goudey, I may try to do all the Black and White variations, and if that goes well, the Sport Royalty's too. I need 10 more of these (202, 203, 204, 208, 209, 210, 216, 220, 222, 227), so if you have any I want them!

2007 Bowman's Best #55 Phil Hughes RC /799
Considering adding Hughes to the PC list, not major but I'll try to get some of his over time. This card is numbered and awesome, Bowman's Best is a favorite of mine and it was a must have for 2 bucks.

3 Nick Swisher's:
- 2009 SP Authentic #121 Copper /99
- 2008 UD Piece of History #24 Red Parallel /149
- 2002 Bowman Draft #BDP16 Rookie Card
3 must have cards for the Swisher PC. I like the Bowman Draft rookie, my Upper Deck rookie of his was pretty pathetic for a Swisher collector.

2 Robinson Cano's:
- 2009 Ticket to Stardom #193 Blue Parallel /99
- 2008 UD Heroes A-Rod/Jeter/Cano #188 Emerald Parallel /499
I want to complete the Ticket to Stardom rainbow, I have the base, the blue now out of 99, and the red out of 1. It's kinda pointless because only 2 things change between every parallel, maybe a color border would be nicer. I also wanna chase the Heroes parallels, unfortunately I've only gotten parallels of the above card, I think I have the base and 3 other numbered parallels of that, so that's good.

2007 Bowman Draft #BDP11 Tim Lincecum RC
I got this for like 2 dollars, a steal in my opinion, especially when this guy is done. Lincecum is becoming a favorite of mine, he is a freak!

1969 Topps Sparky Lyle RC
The last card of part 1 belongs to one of the more underrated relievers in baseball history, Sparky Lyle. I think I got this for 3 or 4 dollars, and it's a nice add although he was a filthy sock. Every order I am making I'm trying to add at least 1 vintage card from pre 1970, since my Pop Popps gives me a ton of 70's cards. This card isn't mint at all, it's pretty worn but it's nice overall.

Well, that's it for part 1, part 2 will be awesome, so stay tuned for that. Before I go, one quick update on the Bracket.

I have 39 guys on the list right now, about 60% filled. But, there is still 40% to go, so I need your help. I've added some on my own, and I think I have one more in mind that will be on the list soon, so, just try to think of some players and let me know. Thanks!

See Ya!

Big Mail from BigD

Hey guys, Drew back here. Tomorrow my school is having a retreat, basically just playing sports all day. It's supposed to rain over here, which is even better, because Capture the Flag is awesome in the rain. So, I came home today to see a nice big package from Big D in "everything is big in Texas"! Derek and I have traded I think 3 or 4 times now, he is a great trader and a great dude. I just asked for a few of his 2010 Heritage Yankees he pulled in a blaster since I don't feel like wasting money on packs of it. He sent more than enough and here are the cards:

First are the Heritage cards I claimed. The pictures are boring yet I think they look nice, yet I do admit that my 1st Yankee Granderson card looks horrible! Pettitte has a nice card as well as Joba, and I don't know what to think of the Burnett. The Ford is nice, every card helps my sadness of being rejected by him TTM, and the checklists actually don't look half bad this year.

Well, I haven't bought much 2010 stuff in general. I'm trying to hold back on buying wax, though I do on occasion (see 2010 Topps). This just goes to show here as I needed all of the above cards! Opening Day, Attax, Upper Deck, sweet! The Posada is the blue parallel from 2010 Opening Day numbered to... you guessed it!, 2010. I like the Chien-Ming Wang insert, although he is kinda annoying now since he can't stop getting hurt. My favorite card by far here is the insert in the bottom right corner of the Yankees celebrating A-Rod/Teixeira's extra inning homers!

Wow. Just wow. These cards are AWESOME!!! Big D did an awesome job on these 2 cards, I was hoping he'd make me one. I must admit if I think I'm good at customs, this is like 10 x better! These are 2 of my favorite cards of Cano and Swisher that I own and I really like them!

The backs are really cool too, I think Topps could use an extra helper...

Thanks BigD for the awesome cards, I really enjoyed the customs, they are perfect to go into my collection!

Before I finalize this post, quick update on the Worst Autograph Ever Tournament. Thanks to dayf for helping get some of your crazy amount of viewers over here, I still need 31 more names, a little more than halfway done so far but I still need your help! I entered a few in myself, please leave a comment here with any ideas. I NEED THE HELP!!!

See Ya!

Wicked Mail from Ortega

Hey guys, Drew back here. I've been kinda busy lately, had my 1st game last night and CCD tonight (Only 4 more classes w00t!!!). In my game I went 1-2 with a line drive double way over the center fielders head and I walked as well. 2 RBI's, 2 Runs, that's the way I roll. I also made a gold glove caliber play at the hot corner (third), stabbed and caught a line drive to my side. I got the game ball, and being the first game for me on the big field, I was pumped. Anyway, I recently worked out a trade with my Awards helper and 2009 Trader of the Year Alfredo, who has the blog My Past Time... I Love It!! It's a great blog, and he is certainly one of the more generous guys in the community. I only scanned my favorites, because I've decided to do that now, it's hard to post everything! Anyway, here goes...

Wicked sent me a bunch of 90's Yanks, which is good because 1) I don't have many of them, and 2) they were awesome back then. The Paul O'Neill card is an instant favorite and I really like the Bernie too. I actually bought Bernie's first CD, he does a jazz thing and it's pretty good though I can't stand jazz music, kinda boring. I've never seen the 1996 Fleer cards, they feel really cheap, but they're nice. He also included some more modern stuff, and the DiMaggio's are really cool.

Ted Williams Cards are pretty nice. He included 3 of them here, Ford, Nettles, and Don Baylor. The Baylor will be great for a through the mail, since I don't have much of him. Also, some cool Fleer inserts, including 2 Mattinglys I needed. Cool!

I requested these off his trade bait posts and they are really sharp cards. I have many of the 09 Topps Legends of the Games but these 2 slipped by. What are the brown borders from? Target? Walmart? Let me know, just curious.

The 1st two of 4 hits were Vernon Gholston autographs. Vernon certainly hasn't looked very good in the NFL so far, but I figured since I need him for the Jets Auto PC I should get them from him. The left one is from 2009 Score Inscriptions and the right is from 2008 Stadium Club. The Score is numbered /199, and I like that one more to be honest. I'm not a huge fan of Topps stickers, especially the way this one was placed.

The next is a relic from 2009 Goodwin Champions of Phil Hughes. I now own 4 of the Yankee relics from this set (Wang, Posada, Nettles, Hughes), and I plan on more. They are really nice looking, and the set is very neat looking compared next to each other. Phil is starting tomorrow, and I hope he does well. Maybe he'll replace the worst starter so far, Javy Vazquez. Hopefully Javier can pull it together though. But yeah, Go Hughes!

The last card is I think my favorite. An auto of D'Brickashaw Ferguson. First off, when this dude was drafted by the Jets a few years ago, I had no clue who he is and what kind of name D'Brickashaw was. He kinda stunk it up at left tackle for the first few years, but he's gotten much better now and I like him. He made the 2009 Pro Bowl and is one of many strong parts of the Jets O Line. This card is a rookie auto from 2006 Score Select Inscriptions, and it's numbered 025/250. His auto spells out Brick and he added number 11, which must have been his college number.

Overall, an awesome package from Wicked, everyone please work out a trade with him, shouldn't be hard with tons of cards for trade that he posted recently. Here is a link.

One more thing, we have 22 guys in the bracket so far, and we need more. We've done well so far, but I know there are some terrible autos just waiting to be added to the list. If you have any ideas, email me or leave a comment here or on a recent post. I have 3 people who volunteered so far to take a region, so I should be set. Just need like 40 more for the list, haha!!!

See Ya!
