Hey guys, just off on a nice little shopping spree on the bay, and I bought 3 items, and 1 is big for the Cano collection! Already got a big boy! Here they are:

- 1: 2008 Goudey Short Print Lot of 3: 205 (Fisk, had already, for use in a 1 for 1 SP trade), 211 (Kaline), and 223 (WHITEY FORD!). Needed 2 out of the 3, and for a grand total of $3.50 I couldn't pass it up!

-2: 2009 Allen & Ginter Nick Swisher Mini SP- Well, wanted to track something down for the Swisher collection and this is what I found! About $3.00 including shipping for that.

And the big buy...

-3: 2009 Allen & Ginter Robinson Cano Mini Bazooka Back /25!!!!- A big card for the collection, for about $20! I just saw a JJ Hardy Bazooka sell for $34 and I got a Robinson Cano one for $17 plus shipping! Please tell me how well I did with these! Did I get ripped off? See Ya!

2009 Nick Swisher Card Wantlist Put Together as Well!

Hey guys, Drew back here with somewhat of an update. I just finished with the 2009 Nick Swisher card wantlist, which can be found by clicking this link and clicking the tab on the bottom of the page that says Nick Swisher 2009 Wantlist or whatever it says around those lines. Here is a link:
http://spreadsheets.google.com/ccc?key=0AoDJkxxazplYcktYazhzZUYtVXdrT196bWl2YTRpaGc&hl=en

Now, if you have any cards from this wantlist, including the following:
2009 Topps Allen & Ginter
2008 Upper Deck Goudey
2008 Upper Deck Piece of History
2007 Upper Deck Masterpieces
2009 Topps Allen & Ginter National Pride Insert Set
2009 Topps Allen & Ginter Baseball Sketch Card Insert Set
2009 Nick Swisher Cards
2009 Robinson Cano cards

Please let me know. Here's the juicy part. FOR EVERY CARD YOU HAVE OFF THESE LISTS WILL GIVE YOU 1/2 A POINT EACH ON THE GRANDPA ROY LEADERBOARD!!! This leaderboard will be my bait sort of thing towards building sets by trading, since it's getting kinda slow. Now, if you don't remember the contest, whoever has the MOST POINTS on this leaderboard by January 1st 2010 will win a sweet Christmas present from Drew, which Drew asn't thought of yet. It may be a lot of 5-10 game used/autograph cards, could be a huge stack of cards for your favorite team, who knows. As long as you contribute to my collection you should feel good, because the Top 5 on this list (other than Number 1, the big prize) will get some stuff as well. So don't feel that if you don't win nothing happens. The last thing I want to say about this is that they are indeed trades, not just you giving me cards. So you ultimately will benefit better than me, which is a pretty good thing, so the blog stays loved all the time and is never forgotten about. Consider me "Santa Junior" :)

On another note, my happiness can be described in these two pieces of art:

This is a PG-13 movie clip for the younglings, so it may not be suitable for them, just to warn you

Congrats to The Captain!!!

for passing Lou Gehrig for the most hits in a Yankee uniform, with 2,722 career hits!

The most classy player I've ever seen, person in fact. My non-related to me idol, always my favorite player, and now he has achieved an amazing Yankee feat. This isn't the record for most hits as a Padre, Marlin, or Diamond Back. This is a record for the Yankees, the most famous sports team in history, with 26 world series championships under the belt. And to think that Derek Sanderson Jeter passed "The Iron Horse" Lou Gehrig, Babe Ruth, Mickey Mantle, Yogi Berra, and Joe Dimaggio in hits as a Yankee is truly remarkable.

I heard a story last night told by Michael Kay about how Dick Groat said before the 1992 draft that Jeter wasn't just on his way to the big leagues, he was on his way to Cooperstown. That is some story to think about 2,722 hits later, as the road to Cooperstown for the 4 time World Series champion gets even closer. He should eventually hit 3,000 hits in his career, and would be the only Yankee to this point to achieve that (other than Winfield, who didn't spend his whole career with them.). So, here's to you Derek Jeter, keep up the excellent work, it's been a fun ride watching you play baseball for the New York Yankees. Thanks Derek!

By the way, this is for the people who think he's overrated, too bad he's only hitting .331 this year, fielding unbelievably, with 17 homers! Come on, you haters, take a look at the stat book some time, and get a chance to see what he has done!
