Grandpa Roy Column!

Hey guys, Drew back here, once again. Boy it's been a while since I've posted more than once in a day, and since I had the day free to relax, I figured why not catch myself up a bit. Anyways, I just got off the phone with Grandpa Roy, and I got a new question from him to ask you all. Check it out:

Yankees fan favorite and legend Derek Jeter recently passed 3,000 hits, becoming the 28th player to ever do so. He also is one of 11 of these members who has never won a batting title in their career. Who are the other 10?

1: Derek Jeter
2: Craig Biggio
3: Eddie Murray
4: Rickey Henderson
5: Paul Molitor
6: Robin Yount
7: Rafael Palmeiro
8:
9:
10:
11:

Most of you know the drill as always, please only guess 1 player every 24 hours to give more people a chance, and try your hardest to not use any informational websites through guessing this. Good luck to everyone, and See Ya!

Grandpa Roy Column!

Hey guys, Drew back here. With one more test to go, this school year is just about in the books for me, and I can't wait until I'm able to leave the madhouse that will be my Geometry Regents exam. Anyway, Grandpa gave me a question recently, and I wanted to see if any of you knew the answer? Here goes:

Throughout the history of Major League baseball, teams frequently change stadiums and cities. This makes it difficult to hit a lot of home runs in the same ballpark for so many years. Which hitter has the most home runs of all time in one ballpark? Name the player, ballpark, and number of home runs if you can!

Player: Mel Ott
Stadium: Polo Grounds
# of HR's: 323

Alright everyone, you know the drill! One guess a day, and please try to limit your uses of stat websites, unless its extremely necessary! Good luck, and See Ya!

Grandpa Roy Column

Hey guys, Drew back here. First off, I want to wish everyone a Happy Memorial Day, and a thank you to everyone who has served our country. I'm so proud to live in America, and I'm glad that so many people have the guts to go out there and support our country in the military. God Bless America!

Anyway, Grandpa Roy and I talked on the phone yesterday about many possible future questions to be used for the Column, so we should have some good stuff for you guys over the next couple weeks. Here is today's question for you:

Which Major League player hit the most home runs in their career without appearing in the World Series? How many home runs did he hit?

Answer: Ken Griffey Jr. , 630 Home Runs

Guessed by: The Diamond King

Alright, with this question, just leave the comment with your answer. Please use your very brilliant minds rather than online references, which kill the purpose of this game. Have fun everyone! And Good Luck!

See Ya!

Grandpa Roy Column

[grandpa+roy+questions.jpeg]

Hey guys, Drew back here. It seems like this series seems to take huge breaks, but we're back for now! Grandpa Roy recently provided me with a new trivia question, and let's see if you guys can get it right! Here is your question:

In baseball history, a manager has often been relied on to help lead a team into the playoffs. However, only 9 managers have taken 3 different franchises to the postseason, and only 2 of the 9 have taken 4. Who are they?

1: Jim Leyland (guessed by SpastikMooss)
2: Lou Piniella (guessed by mmosely)
3: Dusty Baker (guessed by FanOfReds)
4:
Bill McKechnie (guessed by Baseball Nut)
5: Joe Torre (guessed by Jordan)
6: Tony LaRussa (guessed by William)
7: Davey Johnson (guessed by William)
8*:
Dick Williams (guessed by Dan)
9*:
Billy Martin (guessed by Mark A.)

* : Taken 4 teams to the playoffs

**UPDATE: All managers have been found! If there is any disagreement please comment, if not, congrats guys, great job! And Billy Martin was a mistake, he was the guy that led 4 teams to the playoffs.

As usual, please only guess one manager per every 24 hours, and try not to use any references to find your answers outside of your brain! Good luck, and have fun!

See Ya!

Grandpa Roy Column

Hey guys, Drew back here, with an all new question courtesy of Grandpa Roy, here it is:

Since it is the Little League Baseball time of the year, we figured you may be interested in a little league question. Who was the 1st Little Leaguer ever to play in the Major Leagues?

Answer:

And we have another question too about the Little League World Series

Who was the 1st Little Leaguer to be enshrined into Cooperstown?

Answer:

Please try to name them off the top of your head, trivia is a fun thing in which people are meant to share answers and create a conversation about it (in Grandpa Roy's words). If you cannot do that then it isn't going to be any fun for any of us. Please be aware of that, and anyway, thanks, and see ya!

Trivia of the Week!

Hey guys, just got off the phone with my Grandpa Roy. He is an avid baseball fan like I am, and certainly knows a TON about the game. It is always fun to talk baseball with him, and he always challenges me to figure out tough trivia questions. Heck, he named 24 out of the 27 guys with 3,000 hits! So anyway, he asked me 3 trivia questions, and by using the computer I found them pretty quickly. I wondered if you guys wanted to try them as well. Go ahead and try to find these out if you want, and post the answers if you want to see if you are right. Here are the questions:

Question #1- Chipper Jones recently hit his 1,000th hit in Turner Field, the Braves stadium. There are 3 current MLB players that have over 1,000 hits in one stadium. Who are they?

For help: These guys needed to have around 11 seasons in the same ballpark to achieve this feat. So, an A-Rod or Ichiro would not yet qualify because neither of them have played 10 seasons on the same team. So think about this while answering the questions.

1: Derek Jeter, Yankees SS provided by Thoughts & Sox
2:
3:
4: Chipper Jones, Braves 3B

Question #2- There are many pitchers that have thrown no-hitters in the past. There are 5 pitchers that have thrown no-hitters in each league (American & National). Who are they?

For help: These guys can't be included in interleague play. This also has pitchers spanning from the beginning of baseball. Only 2 of these pitchers have won a Cy Young award and one of them would have.

1: Hideo Nomo, named by Night Owl
2: Nolan Ryan, named by White Sox Cards
3: Randy Johnson, named by Thoughts & Sox
4:
5:

Final Question- As you all know, Hank Aaron passed Babe Ruth's home run record in 1974 by hitting number 715. Who was the player that Babe Ruth passed to become all time home run kng? Also, what was the home run number Ruth passed him with and what year did he accomplish the feat?

For help: This player retired in 1897.

Answer: Roger Connor (White Sox Cards) who had _____ career home runs. Ruth passed him on _____________ (date) with # ______

Thanks a lot guys for looking, and I hope you try these and have as much fun as I did! See Ya!

Boxes will be ordered tomorrow off Blowout.
