A Question For You

If your house was on fire and you had to take one card, what would it be and why?

I know it's a horrible thing for something like that to happen, but basically all I'm trying to say is "What is the cornerstone of your collection, the one card that you would always try to keep. The card you show all people, collectors or non-collectors, that makes you feel proud every time you look at it?"

For me, although I bought the Derek Jeter jersey auto from Masterpieces and that is one of my favorite cards, this is my favorite card:

This is my 1956 Yankees Team Card. My Pop Popps gave it to me, which makes it completely awesome. This is one of the only cards in my collection that I drool over, a card that makes me happy. It has the faces of Mickey Mantle, Yogi Berra, Whitey Ford, Phil Rizzuto, Billy Martin, Casey Stengel, and of course, Don Larsen, the year he pitched his perfect game in the World Series. The card sells low in bad condition but high in great condition, pretty sure it books from $150-250. My card is a little damaged but it's still really nice and it's never going anywhere.

So what is your card? Leave a comment below, and be sure to tell the stories. I'd love to hear them all. See Ya!

What is Book Value anyway?

No, I know what it is, but to you, what is book value? To me, it's a baseline to a card's value. Sure, all the guys do is say to each other "this is a 10 dollar card, right?," but still, companies like Beckett get the job done well enough to give us a general idea of how much something sells for.

I don't sell at all, I think it's a good idea to do if it's a business for you, but it's a hobby to me. I honestly don't care about what a card books for if I have it, ok I care because they're fun to show off, but it's not like while I open boxes I'll be like "ooh, that's a 30 dollar card, better sell it now".

I mean, I hate getting ripped off in boxes, but if I get anything Yankees I'd be happy. One thing that always determines if I got ripped off is the fun factor, how much fun it is to open a certain product.

I'm skipping all over the place in this post, but, really, how do you use "book value". I use it as a baseline, but really "book value" should be what it sells for, not what a group of guys determine a 10 dollar card. I hope you understand this post, and I'd really like to know what you think. Thanks, Drew

Sports Lots & Check Out My Cards Question

Hey guys, I want to order a few cards on sportslots, and also on COMC. I was curious if you order from multiple sellers if you will get all the cards in one package, which both applies for those sites. Let me know, if so, I can get farther in that Goudey set! Drew

Quick question for you all

Hey guys, do you consider the Topps All Star Rookie cards "Rookie Cards"? I don't think they should just because of the tin cup in the bottom corner, but just wanted to find out more on them. Thanks, Drew

Should I get a box or not?

Hey guys, sorry for the lack of posts, I have a question. Of course, my 1st Quarter in school is close to over, I think I had a decent enough quarter to rack up some cash, but I'm not sure what to do with it. I could buy a box of Topps Updates & Highlights, which I want to do, but then I'll have less money for a card show I may be going to later this month, if my dad decides to stop hunting for a day and takes me. Anyway, should I get a box? If I go to the show I have a chance of meeting Rollie Fingers or Ferguson Jenkins, 20 dollars an autograph. Let me know, thanks, Drew

Question: What part of Goodwin Champions do you hate the most?

A: 20th Anniversary Kindling
B: The Thin Cheap Card Stock
C: Bad Hits
D: Bad Checklist
E: Being a fan of Allen & Ginters makes this set worse

I say all 5, pick 1! Not sure what the worst part is, there are a few. I think if you combine this list you make a pretty ugly product. I'm very disappointed in it although I haven't touched 1 card yet. See ya!

Before I leave

I have a question. Other than youtube, what do you find as the easiest way to upload a video. It usually takes forever to upload a video on blogger, unless it is really short. Thanks

I added a set wantlists page to the My PC's section. I only put 2007 UD Masterpieces on though so far.
